Where the Action is? Where the Action is? is a 190 page paperback of photographic documentation of happenings and non-theatrical performance art. The book consists of photographs of happenings and performance art, descriptions of specific events and captions from images of performance art and happenings. The texts in the book are treated as illustrations and do not refer to the images. All textual material is photographed from source documents. Each text and each image depicts a unique performance or happening event. Captions are also treated as images and do not refer to other images or texts except for on the front cover where the caption accompanies the image below it as-found in the 1966 issue of Studio magazine from which it was taken. It reads: "The illustrations on this page refer to the Manifestations of August 2nd, described on the facing page." |
